Set a default margin or markup by Cost Type

What's new?

To help provide more control over your project profitability we're adding the ability to set a default markup or margin by Cost Type (e.g., labor, material, equipment, subcontractor rate, etc.), for line items on Estimates and Change Orders.

There are three changes in this release:

1. Single-select Cost Types: Cost Types are changing to a single-select option to support markup and margin control as noted below.

2. Mark line items as Bids or Allowances: We removed Bids and Allowances from the Cost Type section and into a new Mark As field. This move won't affect the action of pulling line items into Bids or Allowances.

   

3. Apply a default margin or markup to Cost Types: In each project’s Job Details page, you can now set a default markup or margin by Cost Type. That amount will then be automatically applied to new line items on estimates and change orders. The shift to single-select Cost Types noted above allows you to have greater control.

This release focused on enhancing your estimating experience. A future release consideration is the ability to apply default markup and margin by Cost Types to Owner Invoices.
